The time of the stomach helps your baby strengthen the muscles on your neck, shoulders, back and hips. Use these muscles to achieve development milestones on time, including rolling, dragging, sitting, standing and walking. It can also help prevent flat-head syndrome, or plagiocephaly. "We go back to sleep, the mummy to play" sounds easy enough, but not all babies enjoy the time of the mummy. What can you do if your baby is not a fan?1. Start touching your stomach early. Babies can, and should, have a little stomach time from day one. In fact, most babies have stomach time on the first day, putting the skin on Mom's chest right after birth. That's a great position for mummy time in the first few days when your baby wants to be around. Many babies are comforted for cuddling, chest to chest, with a loved one. The American Academy of Pediatrics encourages parents to plan a little time with their baby from the first day they arrive home from the hospital. Babies who start the time of the mummy during their first days of life are more likely to tolerate and enjoy being in this position. That said, it's never too late to start!2. It offers many opportunities for the time of the belly all day. At first, it is not important to give your baby a long mummy time session every day. The time of the mummy should spend numerous times all day, even if it is only for a minute at a time. All those minutes add up. Take advantage of the use of the things you are already doing to incorporate the time of the mummy throughout the day. Time to make a rash? Put your baby in your belly over your lap to kick that burp. Do you need to take the baby to the next room with you? Take her to a belly in a load position. Changing the baby's diaper or wearing it? Pass it later to enter some time of the belly. You going somewhere? Take a blanket so you can put it in your belly for a game break once you reach your destination.3. Make Tummy interesting. Go down to your baby's level to see what you can see from that perspective. Put an interesting book or toy at your eye level so you have something fun to look at. If you are down on your baby's level, your face will motivate you to pick up your head. Don't get over it with too many things to see, as this could be overwhelming. Sing songs and talk to your baby to make it fun. Use a mirror so you can lift your head to see the funniest person of all — just!4. Make stomach time easier. If your baby is having trouble lifting his head when he is in his stomach, he can help make it easier by putting a towel or a small, rolled blanket under his chest. You can also use tummy load positions to help your practice lift your head and help strengthen your muscles to make it easier when you are on the ground in your stomach. The time of the mummy should be a fun way to play with your baby and help her strengthen her muscles to reach additional milestones. With a little practice, your baby will learn to love the time of the belly.
